Transfer equipment helps separate generator power from utility power. The exact option depends on the panel, local rules, selected loads and what the installation professional recommends. The goal is to give the homeowner a clear process instead of a risky workaround.

This matters because portable generators can be dangerous when connected the wrong way. CPSC and USFA warn against backfeeding, which can harm utility workers, neighbors and household equipment.
